What the training covered
The rules for cooperatives in Nepal have changed significantly in recent years, through amendments to the Cooperative Act and new policies and directives. Changes include stronger regulation of savings and credit cooperatives, such as the creation of the National Cooperative Regulatory Authority (NCRA).
The session helped cooperative leaders understand:
- What has changed in the Cooperative Act and related policies
- What the changes mean for governance and the responsibilities of boards and managers
- New registration, reporting and compliance requirements
- How to prepare their cooperatives to meet the new rules
